Ophiopogon Japonica

Mondo grass or lily tuffs are natives of Japan. The attractive shiny strap like leaves provides a good ground cover by its underground stolons. The linear leaves are 60-100 CM long and green or green with creamy white strips. The variety Ophiopogon Japonica “Kyoto” produces the shortest leaves that are about 12 CM long and jade green in colour. As all these plants grow in the wetland in its natural habitat, they can be cultivated along the edge of the ponds or in the terrarium.
