A polymorphous species found in Sri Lanka. Depending on the leaf characteristics, this species is divided into many forms. Such as Cryptocoryne Wendtii ‘Broad Leaf’ (leaves are broader and longer than Cryptocoryne Wendtii ‘Green’ (green leaves with brown streaks on the upper side), Cryptocoryne Wendtii ‘Green’ X Tall Form (most probably a natural hybrid having egg shaped leaves with reddish brown veins on the lower side), Cryptocoryne Wendtii ‘Mi Oya’ (leaves are gently bullate with non-serrated margins, collected from Mi Oya in Sri Lanka), Cryptocoryne Wendtii ‘Tropica’ (dark brown leaves which are Strongly bullate with dentate margins), etc. The spathe of the spadix inflorescence has a twisted limb with deep purple collar on the inner part. This is a feature common to all these species. Cryptocoryne Wendtii is tolerant to hard water and is suitable as foreground plant in the aquarium tank.
