This genus is originally found in South and Central America and South East Asia. All species of Spathiphyllum have glossy green lanceolate leaves that are light green or dark green in color. They produce spadix inflorescence. The spathe of the inflorescence is white in color or sometimes tinged with green and curved like a spoon. Spathiphyllum Wallisii (with clumps of growth and slightly arching leaves) can be kept submersed for 3-5 months in an aquarium without suffering much deterioration, however this plant like Spathiphyllum Pettie is more appropriate for the terrariums.
